The Fountain Gate Chapel: Challenges and Prospects Towards National Development

The Fountain Gate Chapel (FGC), the subject of this study, is a Pentecostal/Charismatic church established in Ghana's Upper East Region. The study investigates its challenges and prospects towards national development using a qualitative case study approach, drawing on interviews with twenty-four purposively sampled participants at saturation level. Data were analyzed using NVivo through Reflexive Thematic Analysis. The study found that FGC has prospects in contributing to education, health, environmental preservation, and empowering the vulnerable, but is challenged by inadequate finances, traditional and community perceptions, and limited collaboration and membership empowerment. Proposed strategies to overcome these challenges include raising sufficient capital, collaborating with traditional and political leaders, NGOs, FBOs, and community members, and strengthening community and membership participation. Strategies to leverage the prospects include expanding educational and healthcare infrastructure, increasing support for the vulnerable, environmental preservation, and building national and global appeal, alongside interfaith cooperation and sustainable resource mobilization.
